Funeral services for Winna Joyce Killingsworth, 92, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Jordan Byrd officiating. Burial will follow at Land of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
Mrs. Killingsworth passed away Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
She was born July 1, 1921, in Adamsville, Texas to Walter and Mable Fields Willy.
Mrs. Killingsworth had resided in Palestine most of her life. She was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church where she sang in the choir for many years. She was also active in the Christian Women’s Fellowship and CWW Sunday School class.
She was a retired registered nurse and had worked many years for the Texas Department of State Health. She was a past member of the Business and Professional Women’s Association, Altrusa Club, and the Dogwood Red Hats Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. C.D. Joyce Jr.; two sisters, Mary Evelyn Williams and Wilda Killingsworth; son, Jack Joyce; and daughter, Melinda Myers.
Mrs. Killingsworth is survived by her husband of 25 years, Jack Killingsworth of Palestine; daughter, Dyna Pierce and husband Roger of Russellville, Ark.; sons, Joe Bob Joyce and wife Lou Ann of Longview and Claude Joyce III of Bryan; daughter-in-law, Shelley Joyce of Palestine; 10 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and honorary pallbearers will be the members of the choir at First Christian Church.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
