Robert Lawrence "Bob" Johnson

October 26, 1941 - November 9, 2013

After a courageous battle with cancer Bob moved from Eagle Mountain Lake, Ft. Worth, TX to God’s Kingdom on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013. His family was at his bedside to lovingly send him into Christ's arms.

Born Oct. 26, 1941, in Freeport, Texas to Lawrence Thomas and Lucille Hickman Johnson, (longtime residents of Palestine, Texas). He enjoyed all sorts of adventures in Lake Jackson with his brother Bill and sister Nancy. After graduation from Brazosport High School in 1960, Bob attended the University of Texas at Austin. He served in the Army in Korea during the Vietnam Era. Following honorable discharge, he returned to Lamar University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering.

His career life began at IBM where his natural technical instincts were ignited, then to ARCO where he wrote and ran programs for blending gasoline. Later he advanced his career with Champlain Oil where he met his wife Linda. Later Union Pacific Resources bought out Champlain where he finally retired in 1999. After retirement Bob continued working several years as a consultant with various firms.

To Linda, Bob was a kind, gentle, generous, intelligent person and her soft place to fall. He loved all his family and was always there for support, advice and just listening. For 27 years they were best friends enjoying each day the life they shared - whether it was lake activities or yard work or travels or  just watching sunsets from their deck. Over the years they made great friends and eternal memories.

Bob will be greatly missed by friends and family, including wife Linda; sister, Nancy Kolle of Grants Pass, Oregon; brother, Bill and wife Pam of Streetman, Texas (formerly of Palestine); and numerous precious nieces and nephews.

The memorial service will be at All Saints Episcopal School Chapel, 9700 Saints Circle, Fort Worth, TX 76108 Saturday, Nov. 16 at 11 a.m. A map may be found at "contact us" page.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to All Saints Episcopal School Scholarship Endowment fund.
