— Funeral services for Janice Sue Whittenburg, 74, of Elkhart, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Family of Faith Church in Elkhart. Burial will follow at Pilgrim Cemetery under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.

Mrs. Whittenburg died Saturday, May 11, 2013, at her daughter’s home in League City, Texas, where she had battled cancer for the last 18 months.

She was born on Jan. 8, 1939, in Muncie, Ind., to Carl Allen and Garnet Edwards Allen.

She moved to Elkhart in 1980 and was a member of Family of Faith Church in Elkhart where she played a very active role in the youth group and the community for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Garnet and Carl Allen; husband, Burnis Whittenburg; son, Patrick Kelley; a grandchild, Kymber Kelley; and a sister, Judy Scroggs.

She is survived by daughters, Constance Kelley of Surfside and Bobbie Moss and husband Charles of League City; and one son, Tommy Whittenburg and wife Pam of Elkhart. She has eight grandchildren, Arron Jackson of Louisiana, Jerry Kelley of Surfside, Chad, Justin, and Ashley Moss of League City, and Daniella, Tyler, and Tara Whittenburg of Elkhart; and one great-grandchild, Cody Jackson of Louisiana. She also has four sisters, Patsy Allen, Marjorie Hershey, Nancy Miller of Muncie, Ind., and Mary Hayes of Middletown, Ind.; 15 nieces and nephews, 39 great-nieces and nephews, and 11 great-great-nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Tommy Whittenburg, Tyler Whittenburg, Charlie Moss, Chad Moss, Justin Moss, Jerry Kelley, Bob Boyscel and Brien Hill.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home Chapel.
