Services for Wendell Caskey, 83, of Grapeland, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bailey & Foster Chapel, Grapeland. Burial will follow in Parker Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Caskey died Saturday at Winfield Nursing Center in Crockett.
He was born March 17, 1930 in Grapeland to Oren and Fannie Lou Collins Caskey.
He was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church and the Grapeland Masonic Lodge. He was retired from Vulcraft as an inspector. He was a 29-year member of the Grapeland Volunteer Fire Department where he served as Fire Chief for seven years.
Mr. Caskey was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Ola Mae Allen Caskey; son, Robert Lee Franklin; and a granddaughter, Cheyenne Elizabeth Franklin.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Franklin Caskey of Grapeland; daughters, Shirley Bridges and husband Ricky of Grapeland and Judy Erwin and husband Joe of Hemphill; sons, Johnny Franklin and wife Brenda of Elkhart, Tommy Franklin and wife Lisa of Alvarado, Curtis “Beaver” Franklin and wife Lana of Elkhart; 13 grandchildren, Jennifer Starks, Heath Bridges, Jeffrey Bridges, Michael Franklin, Kayla Franklin, Hope Franklin, Faith Franklin, Beaver Franklin Jr., Johnny Wayne Franklin Jr., Ashley Franklin, Christy Rhea, Jessica Byerley and Christopher Anderson; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be the members of the Grapeland Volunteer Fire Department. Honorary pallbearers will be, Heath Bridges, Jeff Bridges, Beaver Franklin Jr., Johnny Wayne Franklin Jr., Michael Franklin, Christopher Anderson, Arlon Luce and A.J. Armstrong.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster Funeral Chapel in Grapeland.
