Services for Richard Dale Dishon, 60, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Spain officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Crockett are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Dishon died Sunday at Palestine Healthcare Center.
He was born Sept. 11, 1952 in Crockett to Earl J. and Mable Doris Smith Dishon.
Mr. Dishon attended Porter Springs Elementary and Jr. High School, East Bay High School in Tampa, Fla., Crockett High School and Latexo High School. He also attended Henderson County Jr. College, Texas State Tech Inst and Baylor University in Waco. He was retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice — Institutional Division. Mr. Dishon also served in the U.S. Army, Army National Guard, U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force Reserves, and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was an original charter member of the Palestine/Anderson County Amateur Radio Club, where he served as former president, vice president and secretary/treasurer.
Mr. Dishon was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his wife, Herminia Dishon; mother, Mable Dishon, stepsons, Walter Landers II and Brent Neil Elrod; and a brother, Gary Earl Dishon.
Visitation will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
