— The family of Kathleen Lockey celebrated her entry into the Kingdom of God on Saturday, April 20, 2013, as she ended her 20-year battle with cancer at Mother Frances Memorial Hospital surrounded by family and close family friends.

Graveside services for Kathleen will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 in the Pennington Family Cemetery at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Tommy Caskey officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.

Kathleen was born on Sept. 14, 1952 in Crockett, Texas to Wayne and Dorothy Pennington; living in Grapeland all of her life. She was Salutatorian of her Senior Class at Grapeland High School and Valedictorian of her business class at Nixon Business College in Palestine. Kathleen was a loving daughter, wife, mother and friend.  She was hard worker, had a soft heart for animals and would help anyone in need. Her hobbies included playing piano and the flute, reading, collecting and selling antiques, interior decorating and enjoying a glass of “good, unsweet ice tea.” She was a faithful Christian and a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, Grapeland.

She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Brown Pennington Sr.

She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Dorothy and Peck Smart; her husband, Jimmy Lockey; her son, Jeff Lockey; daughter, Caryl Ann and husband, Gerald Willis; and daughter, PennyLynn Webb; her grandchildren, Wyatt and Walker Webb, Rowdy Willis and wife, Kristi, Natalie Cramer, and Dusty D’ Olive, Amanda Wilkerson and husband, Tom; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Tanner and Conner Willis, Bailey and Tyler Frederickson and Carley Kramer, Cash Wilkerson; brother, Wayne Brown Pennington Jr. and wife, Donna; sister, Rhonda Wilkens and husband, Richard; stepbrother, Steve Smart and wife, Vickeye; and stepsister, Janet Wilmeth and husband, Bob; and a host of nieces, nephews, beloved relatives and close family friends.

Visitation will be held at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home in Grapeland from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Pallbearers are Jeremy Byrd, Jason Estes, Miguel Benavides, Rowdy Willis, Steven Wilkens, Jason Bridges, Jeremy Pennington and Jason Pennington.

In lieu of flowers donation can be made to the Grapeland Public Library, the Jordan School & Vista Academy Library, the Animal Shelter at Houston County Vet, or Houston County Relay for Life.
