— Services for Arma Dean Nicholson, 83, of Palestine, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Westwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Dees officiating. Burial will follow at Land of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home.

Mrs. Nicholson passed away on Saturday June 22, 2013, at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

She was born on Nov. 3, 1929, in Washita County, Oklahoma to Claude Henry and Daily O. Duncan Leflett.

Mrs. Nicholson was a devoted and longtime member of Westwood Baptist Church. She also loved watching and being a part of the Westwood I.S.D. Athletic Program. She is honored on the Westwood Wall of Fame and the Westwood High School baseball field is also named after her and her husband. Besides her love for Westwood athletics, Mrs. Nicholson also enjoyed spending time with her five generations of family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jesse Nicholson; 2 brothers; and 3 sisters.

Survivors include a son, Donnie Nicholson and wife Debbie of Kilgore; daughter, Sharon Main and husband Harold of Deer Park; two sisters, Mae Duncan of Austin and Zelda Corona of Ponta;  four grandchildren, Beverly Nicholson of Kilgore, Melissa Nicholson of Carrolton, Meredith Walker and husband Cody of Houston, and Leslie Jernigan and husband Jeremy of Germany; three great-grandchildren, Bailee Walker, Raylee Walker and Haley Linkinhoker; and one great-great-grandchild Bryce Colbert.

Pallbearers will be Shane Jones, Herbert Trussell, Bobby Naismith, Ronnie Wooton, Jerry Don Sims and Mark Sims. Honorary pallbearers are all past and present athletes of Westwood Independent School District.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice of East Texas and the nurses at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
