Betty Jean Holt, 81, of San Antonio, Teas, left to be with our Heavenly Father on June 19, 2013. Betty was born Oct. 14, 1931 in Alpena, Mich., the only daughter of Leslie and Jean Edmonds.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Manual Holt; granddaughter, Christy Sesters; and great-grandson, Deacon Garay.
Betty is survived by her brothers and their spouses, Earl and Dorothy Edmonds of Arizona and Jimmy and Leanne Edmonds of Ohio; six children, Beth Patch of Massachusetts, Barbara and Rusty Kanetzky of Palestine, Suzie and Roberto Zuniga of Austin, Mary Reeves of Palestine, Leslie and Jackie Reeves of Mabank, Martha and Gilbert Garay of Palestine; 21 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; family member, Roger Sesters of Palestine, Ricky and Becky Rodriguez of San Antonio; family in Indian River, Mich., children of Pat Rodriguez of San Antonio; and the Holt family.
Betty was a nurse until she retired. She loved to make crafts and read, as well as write poetry and paint. She loved traveling and traveled to many places around the world. She taught her children that there are many things in life to enjoy. She took her children to castles and Chinese operas, taught them silly songs and poetry. She had a truly amazing sense of humor. She loved her family and friends and was a wonderful mother. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Calling hours will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, June 24 at Brookehill Funeral Home, 711 S.E. Military Dr. in San Antonio. The funeral will be at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 25 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd. in San Antonio.
