James Harold Black Sr., 91, of Palestine, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2014 in Palestine. He was born Feb. 8, 1923 in Alto to Templeton Black and Edna Phares.
Mr. Black was a member of Tyre Lodge No. 198 in Tennessee Colony and also a member of Scottish Right, Shriners and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3907. He was of the Baptist faith.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. A graveside service, with military honors, will follow at 3 p.m. at Salem Cemetery.
Mr. Black is survived by his wife, Paula Kimbro Black of Palestine; son, Ronald Black of Deer Park; daughter, Cindy Tindol of Houston; grandchildren, Tommy Black and Stephanie Stephenson, both of Midland; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Templeton Black and Edna Phares Black; sons, Donald Black, Richard Black and James Black Jr.; and brother, Morris Elmer Black.
