Memorial services for Carl Gene Farnes, 75, of Palestine, will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2013 at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. John Markham officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Farnes died Thursday at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.
He was born Nov. 29, 1938 in Fairfield, Mont.
Mr. Farnes was a truck driver and served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Farnes was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He loved bowling and talking to people. He never met a stranger.
Mr. Farnes was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, eight brothers, and a stepson, Matthew Pharis.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Irene Farnes; son, Robert A. Farnes; two stepdaughters, Cynthia Childres and Janice Suterland; stepson, Rudy Pharis; six step grandchildren and six step great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
