Altha “Lou” Pugh Chambers

Memorial services for Altha Lou Chambers, known to all who loved her as “Ninnie”, 93, of Palestine, will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2 at Brushy Creek United Methodist Church with Pastor Craig Harris officiating.

Altha Lou Chambers was born March 12, 1920 in Cleaton, Kentucky to the late William Vincent and Pauline Adcock Vincent.

Her career was in the food industry. Lou had lived in Palestine for about 14 months, moving from Mansfield, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her late husbands, Eugene D. Pugh, the father of her children; and Gene Chambers; sister, Martha Jones; brother, Elbert Vincent; and grandson, Wesley Turner.

She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth “Betty” House and husband, Bill House Jr. of Palestine and Martha “Genie” Pugh of Fort Worth; son, William “Buddy” Pugh and wife, Joyce Pugh of Mansfield; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and another expected in January; and numerous nieces and nephews.

“Ninnie” went to meet her Lord peacefully on Nov. 23, 2013 at her home in Palestine.
