Billy F. Bickerstaff, 79, of Slocum, went home to meet his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 in Palestine, Texas.
He was born July 8, 1934, in Bullard, Texas to Herod and Gertrude Burk Bickerstaff.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ann Bickerstaff of Slocum; daughters, Billie Bickerstaff Boyd of Slocum, Tami Beard and husband Robbie of Elkhart; sons, John Bickerstaff and wife Tammy of Slocum, Mark Bickerstaff and wife Leisa of Whitehouse; daughter, Gayle Basaldu and husband Paul of Joshua, Texas; and sister, Nona Kay Bickerstaff of Bullard.
He also was blessed with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David Bickerstaff; sister, Shirley Bickerstaff; and son, Mike Bickerstaff.
Bill was a member of First Baptist Church of Slocum. He retired from United Telephone as a cable splicer. His leisure time was spent as a basketball referee and a baseball umpire.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Slocum with the Rev. Randall Reeves officiating. Burial will follow in Strong Cemetery in Slocum under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation with friends and family will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel.
