Services for Bobby Carl Boyd, 76, of Palestine will be at 3 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Carol Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Parker Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.

Mr. Boyd went home to be with his Lord on Monday, March 31, 2014 at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

He was born May 30, 1937 in Alto, Texas to Carl Boyd and Estell Weems Boyd.

He was retired from P Chem as a shipping manager and was a Southland Conference football official for over 30 years. One of his highlights of his football career was officiating the Tangerine Bowl. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the domino club at Palestine YMCA. He loved the outdoors fishing and hunting. He was a fishing guide on Toledo Bend and Sam Rayburn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Beverly Weaver Boyd; his second wife, Wanda Boyd; and a special friend, Marilee Rogers; and a sister, Cynthia Boyd.

He is survived by his daughter, Christa Wyatt and husband Jeff of Tyler; sons, Carl Boyd and wife Eupha of Homer, La., Clint Boyd and wife Cheri and Cade Boyd and wife Kelli, all of Grapeland; sisters, Nancy Vickers of Plano, and Sue Jones, of Lufkin; grandchildren, Cory Boyd, Courtney Boyd, Clay Boyd, Ruston Boyd, Cameron Boyd, Case Boyd, Cheney Boyd, Carly Wyatt and Claire Wyatt; great-grandchildren, Hannah Boyd, Hydi Boyd, Cali Boyd, Brilee Boyd, Clayton Boyd, and Cydni Boyd.

He loved his grandkids and loved watching them play sports, whether it was baseball, football, basketball, barrel racing, soccer, even track. Papaw was always in the stands cheering them on.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and granddaughters will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
