— Funeral services for Maggie Viola (Mamaw) Thomas, 91, of Elkhart will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 25, 2013 at Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Wayne Frazier officiating.  Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Elkhart.

Mrs. Thomas passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Trucare Living Centers of Palestine.

She was born September 1, 1921 in Anderson County to Freddie Hatfield and Sara PharrisHatfield.   Mrs. Thomas had lived in Anderson County all her life and was a member of Sheridan Terrace Baptist Church.  She was a seamstress for many years making beautiful wedding dresses and cheerleading uniforms.  She also enjoyed cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.  Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Thomas and a daughter, Karen Sue Honeycutt.

She is survived by her sons, Gary Thomas and wife Kathy of Elkhart, Bobby Thomas and wife Jan of Irving, and Mike Broughton and wife Lillie of Salmon; sisters, Dorothy Harris of Palestine and Tessie Hatfield of Louisiana; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Judson Frazier, Caden Frazier, Skyler Laza, Larry Thomas, Greg Thomas, and Wayne Jennings.

Condolence calls will be received from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home.
