— Funeral services for Katherine Merlene Zoeller Hammonds, 83, of Palestine, were at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Daniel officiating. Burial followed at Bell Cemetery in Palestine. Arrangements were under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hammonds passed away on Friday, Dec. 6, 2013 in Richardson, Texas.
She was born on Aug. 6, 1930 in Palestine to Phillip Zoeller and Lula Bell Zoeller.
While living in Palestine, Mrs. Hammonds worked for Dr. Curtis Jordan for many years as well as worked as an LVN and dental assistant with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for 12 years.
She was married to Roy Hammonds in 1949.
Mrs. Hammonds was a true caregiver her entire life and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She moved to Richardson in 2005.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, W.M. Zoeller; and Roy Hammonds in 1985.
She is survived by her sons, Kyle Hammonds and wife Kimberly of Freeport and Kevin Hammonds and Richard Schwartz of New York, New York; daughters, Karen Tonnesen of McKinney and Kay Price and husband Danny of Frisco; sister, Maxine Daniel and husband Gene of Richardson; sister-in-law, Dorothy Zoeller of Palestine; grandchildren, Alyson Tonnesen, Ashley Tonnesen, Alyssa Tonnesen, Elizabeth McKinney, Tyler Price, Macey Price, and Benjamin Price; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were nephews, grandsons, and son-in-law, David Daniel, Bryan Zoeller, Bill Zoeller, Tyler Price, Benjamin Price and Richard Tonnesen.
