PALESTINE — Funeral services for Hazel Irene Hopper, 84, of Palestine, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Herrington/Land of Memory Chapel with Dan Manuel officiating. Burial will follow at Land of Memory Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hopper died Thursday at Cartmell Home for Aged.

She was born on Jan. 12, 1928 in Anderson County to Luther and Fannie Camp Hamby.

Mrs. Hopper lived the majority of her life in Palestine and was a member of Norwood Heights Baptist Church. She was a nurse for 30-plus years and volunteered at the hospital for many years after her retirement. She loved playing bingo, gardening, and dancing.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray Bomer; son, Ronald Ray Bomer; two brothers and six sisters.

Mrs. Hopper is survived by her son, William Rodney Woody of Arp; daughters, Patricia Bragg and husband John of Frankston and Pamela Bomer Hamilton and husband Richard of Hamilton; brother, Vernon Hamby and wife Bessie of Palestine; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and longtime friend, Bob Wilson

Pallbearers will be Josh Kale, Dustin Handorf, John Bragg II, Rick Erickson, JR Newman and Kyle Modisette.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
