Funeral services for Dorothy Joanne Pounds, 83, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with Jimmy Smith Coker officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster, Palestine.
Mrs. Pounds passed away Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012 at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 21, 1929, in Indiana, Pa., to George and Esta Mae Hines Vanderhoof.
Mrs. Pounds was the office manager for Sunshine Laundry and Palestine Laundry, and a member of North Jackson Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Vernon Pounds; sisters, Elizabeth Beals and Louise Sexton; brothers, George, Russell and Glenn Vanderhoof; and a granddaughter, Tiffany Johnston.
Mrs. Pounds is survived by daughters, Joanne Perry and husband David of Palestine, April Johnston and husband Mike of Palestine, Tina Teetz and husband Thomas of Palestine and Stacy Posey of Bullard; sons, Benny Pounds and wife Barbara of Palestine and Ricky Pounds of Palestine; sister, Delores Hill of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren; and her loving pet, Shadow.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Eric Pounds, Scott Pounds, Nick Posey, Jonathan Teetz, Cliff Perry and Mark Freeman. Honorary pallbearer will be Kris Baker.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster, Palestine.
