Kenneth “K.W.” Smith

Services for Kenneth “K.W.” Smith, 81, of Palestine will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with Joe Ballard officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.

Mr. Smith died Thursday at his residence.

He was born Oct. 21, 1931 in Palestine to Kenneth William and Willa Maude Campbell Smith.

Mr. Smith was retired from the U.S. Air Force where he served in Thailand during the Vietnam War, he was also a retired Postmaster from the U.S. Postal Service.

Mr. Smith was a member and deacon of the Norwood Heights Baptist Church, and was a Gideon.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ruby Ives Smith of Palestine; four sons, Keith Smith of Palestine, Dennis Smith and wife Dana of Grove City, Ohio, Lynn Smith and wife Pam, and Paul Smith and wife Mandy, all of Palestine; a brother, Donnie “CD” Smith of Palestine; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bailey & Foster, Palestine.
