1933 – 2014
Nancy Elliott Ludtke of Palestine, Texas was born Dec. 1, 1933 in LaPorte, Texas to Jean and Elma Elliott and passed away June 4, 2014 after a long and valiant struggle with a terminal illness.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Fred Elliott and Clyde Elliott; and her sisters, Helen Elliott Sharp and Leslie Elliott LeVack.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Carroll Lyles (Buddy) Ludtke; her daughter, Kristy Ludtke Higginbotham and husband Kenneth; her son, Lane Ludtke and fiancé Paula; her grandchildren, Ashley Higginbotham Kilsby and husband Robert, Westin Higginbotham and wife Danielle, Chase Ludtke and wife Anna, Trevor Ludtke; and great-grandchildren Tyler Kilsby, Mackenna Kilsby, Kennedy Higginbotham, Riley Higginbotham, and Jensen Ludtke.
Nancy graduated from LaPorte High School and attended the University of Houston. She enjoyed a long career in banking and retired as branch manager from Compass Bank in 2000. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Palestine and sang in the chancel choir there for 40 years. She loved reading, writing poetry, and photography. She especially loved to sing and dance and passed this love of music and dance on to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home in Palestine, Texas on Friday, June 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Herrington/Land of Memory Chapel on Saturday, June 7 at 3 p.m. with graveside services immediately following at Land of Memory Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Westin Higginbotham, Robert Kilsby, Chase Ludtke, Trevor Ludtke, Gordon Ludtke and Trent Ludtke.
