BEHIND THE PINE CURTAIN: You might be from East Texas if...

EDITOR'S NOTE: Behind the Pine Curtains is a series of anedotes compiled and edited by Herald-Press Publisher Gary Connor.

You might be from East Texas if:  It never occurred to you to be offended by the phrase, “One nation, under God.”

   You might be from East Texas if:  You've never protested about seeing the 10 Commandments posted in public places.

   You might be from East Texas if: You still say “Merry Christmas” instead of “Happy Holidays”.

   You might be from East Texas if: You bow your head when someone prays.

   You might be from East Texas if: You stand and place your hand over your heart when they play the National Anthem.

   You might be from East Texas if:  You treat vets with great respect, and always have.

   You might be from East Texas if:  You've never burned an American flag.

   You might be from East Texas if:  You put God, Country, Family, Good for the many and not just yourself first and don't wavier with every special interest dollar.

   You might be from East Texas if:  You respect your elders and expect your kids to do the same.

   You might be from East Texas if:  You believe “Illegal” means there will be penalties instead of entitlement.

   You might be from East Texas if: You clip this piece out and share with a friend.
