  • Palestine falls to Mexia 36-14
CEDAR HILL — On the night of Friday the 13th, the Palestine Wildcats were not able to avoid the black cat.
The Mexia Blackcats were too much for Palestine Friday night in a Class 3A-Region III, Division II, bi-district 36-14 win at Longhorn Stadium.

  • Slocum's Foster takes third in state cross country meet
ROUND ROCK — Slocum’s Logan Foster heads home with a medal in his final cross country race of his high school career.
The Slocum senior took the bronze medal Saturday afternoon, getting third place in the Class A state cross country meet at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock.

  • Back in the playoffs
For a five year stretch, from 2002-06, the Palestine Wildcats were one of the top football programs in the area.
Palestine, which had seven playoff wins in the five-year span, went into a drought, not making the postseason the last two years.
After a two-year hiatus, the Wildcats are back in familiar territory — the playoffs.

  • Defense looks for another strong performance
The Palestine defense stepped up to the challenge last week in stopping a potent Westwood offense to help the Wildcats clinch a playoff spot.
With the stakes higher this week, the Palestine defense will have to do the same thing against another high-scoring offense in Mexia.

  • All in the team
For the Palestine Ladycats, it is one big happy family.
That is how Palestine cross country coach John Absalom describes his state-bound girls’ cross country team.

  • Terry not content with just making playoffs

    Olin Terry is not satisfied.
It does not matter that the Palestine senior has made the playoffs for the first time. Or that the Wildcat quarterback reached his personal goals in rushing and passing.
He is not satisfied with just that.

  • Palestine girls win regional cross country meet

The Palestine girls cross country team is heading to state.
The Ladycats won the Class 3A-Region III meet Saturday morning at North Harris College in Humble. Palestine won with 104 points and Lufkin Hudson finished second with 110 points.

  • Palestine defense puts pressure on Westwood
The Palestine defense had their backs to the wall in the opening minutes of Friday night’s must-win game against Westwood.
The Panthers took advantage of a Palestine personal foul call on fourth down to get new life. Then Westwood moved the ball down to the 2-yard line and was knocking on the door to take an early lead.

  • Palestine clinches playoffs with win over Westwood
Palestine quarterback Olin Terry was nearly speechless.
The Wildcat senior could not find the words after Palestine defeated Westwood 49-7 Friday night at Wildcat Stadium, clinching a playoff spot for the first time since Terry has been on the varsity team.
