Anderson County registered voters have until 7 p.m. today to cast their ballots in the party primary runoff elections.
Polls opened at 7 a.m. today throughout the state.
Persons who voted in either the March 4 Democratic or Republican primary election must vote in the same party’s runoff election Tuesday. However, persons who did not vote in last month’s election can cast a ballot in either party’s primary runoff.
In Anderson County and most counties throughout the state, the ballot features few races.
For local Republicans, only those living in precinct 3 will be voting in today’s election as incumbent Ronny Smith of Frankston and challenger Kenneth Dickson of Neches meet for the right to be the party’s nominee for commissioner in the fall.
Precinct 3 Republican voters should cast their ballot at their usual polling place.
Boxes 13 through 18 and box 23 will all be open, according to Casey Brown, assistant registrar for Anderson County.
Unopposed Democrat Rush Herrington awaits the Smith-Dickson winner in the Nov. 4 general election.
Anderson County Democrats will only be participating in a statewide primary runoff in the railroad commissioner’s race pitting Mark Thompson of Hamilton against Dale Henry of Austin.
All Democrats should vote at the Anderson County Courthouse Annex today, according to Brown.
