ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

— Fourth Grade — Westwood 4th grade students have been busy learning how to divide. What a trying task this has been. However, we are beginning to feel the accomplishment of success. Continue to work with your children on their multiplication facts. When they know these, their lives are so much easier.

Some 4th grade classes will soon begin a real life lesson in Life Science. We will be participating in the Hatching in the Classroom program. We can't wait to see how our baby chicks progress through the stages of development. Thank you to the County Extension Agency for providing the equipment and supplies for this learning experience.

Keep reading! Our AR goals need to be met soon, and the deadline for the Six Flags reading is Feb. 20. Get those record sheets turned in to receive your free ticket to Six Flags!

PRIMARY SCHOOL

— Pre-K — The PreK classes studied letter 'T' last week. Ms. T taught them how to take care of their teeth. They also learned about safety when they travel. Monday was 'Groundhog Day' and they had a great time listening to the story about that sleepy, Gregory Groundhog! Tuesday was their 100th day of school. They counted to 100 and made a 100 chart with cereal.

— Second Grade — Second grade enjoyed learning about Groundhog Day and Punxsutawney Phil. They found information on the internet and wrote stories about groundhogs. They also enjoyed activities centered around the 100th Day of School. They counted 100 objects, sang raps counting to 100 and drew pictures of how they would look when they are 100. It's fun being a second grader!

— Character Club — The following students were named as Character Club members for the week of Jan. 26-30, because they demonstrated the character trait, 'Justice': Hayze Reed, Mallory Friday, Sarah McCann, Melissa Kurtz, A'stayshious Dixon, Dillon Head, Breanna Grigsby, Callie Vanover, Tori Wilson, Josh Lowe, Alicia Vargus, Mario Black, Ashlyn Jones, Michelle Rogers, Julie Warren, Jerri Finch, McCain Collett, Randall Mills, Deserea Dodd, Tanner Duran, Caleb Williams, Amanda Wilder, Thomas Perdue, Haley Mudderman
