Cayuga ISD happenings for 2-23

HIGH SCHOOL 

• Band — Cayuga Band students participated in the UIL Solo and Ensemble contest.  Cayuga High School students performed Feb. 7 at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches.  They were Michelle Beasley, 2nd division, Ashley Kirkpatrick, 2nd division, Leif Knippers, 1st division, Kylee Magee, 2nd division, Nathan Wilburn, 2nd division. 



MIDDLE SCHOOL

• Student of the Day — The following students were selected as the “Student of the Day” for the week of Feb. 16: Cal Russell, Brittani Britton, Breck Alexander and Daniel Jock.

• Gold Medalist of the Week — “Gold Medalist” for this week is 6th grader, Surge Kanetzky. He is the son Kevin and Robin Kanetzky of Frankston and Jona Rowell of Elkhart. Surge participated in UIL Listening and placed second. He also participates in Little Dribblers, rides 4-wheelers, hunts and fishes, and enjoys playing baseball. Serge enjoys CMS because it is fun, and the classes are easy. Congratulations to Surge!

• 8th Grade Science Fair — Students in 8th grade participated in our local science fair recently.

Students worked diligently in getting ready for this event.

The top projects will be invited to attend a science fair at Kilgore College in March. Thanks to Don Sharp, 8th grade science teacher, for his hard work and enthusiasm in preparing for this event.

• Upcoming Events — TAKS tests, March 3 is the 7th grade Writing TAKS test and 8th grade Reading TAKS test.

• Box Tops — Cayuga Middle School is collecting Box Tops for Education. Please send box tops to Mrs. Griffey. Grades are competing.

The winning class will receive a pizza party at the end of second semester. The 7th graders won the competition for 1st semester!
