ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

• Fifth Grade — This week our Fifth graders are working hard on Accelerated Reading and Accelerated Math with only two weeks left to meet their goals. In Accelerated Math, we are working on specific objectives that the students may have had difficulty with on their Benchmark tests to better prepare them for the TAKS test.

In Science, we are studying electricity and magnetism with experiments in the Science Lab and in the classroom.

With the help of our FOSS (Full Option Science System) kits, the students will be making electromagnets in the classroom.

PRIMARY SCHOOL

• Head Start — The Head Start children enjoyed a “balloon in motion” activity with their parents before the Valentine's party last week. Not only did they get to do the activity with their parents, they observed science in a very fun way!

• Second Grade — Second graders are continuing to work with fractions. They are still discussing heroes in Social Studies. In reading they are comparing and contrasting “Goldilocks and the Three Bears” and “Abuelo and the Three Bears” along with learning more about contractions and subject/verb agreement.

Mrs. Cherry says the second graders are very competitive and are working together as a team to win the tournament for their class. Good luck second-grade classes!
