After the Palestine Independent School District board of trustees denied Glen Tunstall’s grievance over his reassignment, it is now time for Palestine to start looking for a new head coach and athletic director.
After Monday’s school board meeting, PISD Superintendent Jerry Mayo said he hopes to take a name to the board of trustees next month.
The position, which was posted on Jan. 5 closed Monday and Mayo said the district had eight to 10 applicants.
“The next step is to interview those that applied,” Mayo said.
Currently, Booker Bowie is the interim head football coach and athletic director at Palestine High School.
Bowie was the Palestine defensive coordinator for five years before announcing his retirement last spring. Bowie came back to Palestine in the fall as an administrator but did not coach this season.
