Slocum ISD School Happenings for 3-25-07

• Basketball Honors — Shonda Fletcher and Jared Lane each received the honor of being named to the All Region Basketball Team by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.

The two Slocum students were honored for this year’s participation of excellence by TABC and both also were named class 1A All District-First Team Basketball players by UIL.

• Softball — Girls Softball will play at 4 p.m. Monday in Lovelady.

• Baseball — Boys Baseball will be at Cross Roads at 7 p.m. Tuesday and play Neches at home at 4 p.m. Friday. Boys JV Baseball will play a round-robin tournament Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.

• One-Act Play — High School One-Act Play will compete in the zone contest Wednesday in Crockett. The district contest will be held the following day.

• High School UIL — High School UIL will participate Friday and Saturday in the District Meet at Angelina College.

• Team Roping Honors — Congratulations to Jerod Mock, a sophomore from Slocum High School, and Paxton Davenport, a freshman from Elkhart High School, on placing seventh in the Region 9 Finals of Team Roping of the Texas High School Rodeo Association.

The two will advance to the state level to compete the week of June 10 in Abilene. THSRA participants must meet academic requirements and dress code to be eligible to participate.
