• Set Rendering — Mrs. Trahan’s Theatre Art’s class recently learned about set rendering. Her students were given a project to make a scene from anything out of a shoebox. Some of the scenes included living rooms, beaches, and sports activities. Leah O’Dell, Aaron Cox, and Jessica Allen show off their sets they rendered in the Theatre Arts Class.
• TAKS Tests — The TAKS Tests will be given Tuesday through Friday. Please make certain your child receives a good night’s sleep and a nutritional breakfast to promote a positive testing environment.
• Varsity Baseball — Varsity Baseball will travel to Cayuga for a 6 p.m. game on Friday. They also will play at home on Saturday against Crossroads beginning at 1 p.m.
• Softball —Softball girls will play against Oakwood there at 4 p.m. Monday.
• Regional UIL Meet — Congratulations to the high school students who made it to the Regional Academic UIL Meet. The winners and events are: Calculator Applications-Meagan Carroll 1st, Aaron Chastain-3rd, Computer Applications-Alyssa Long 1st, Morgan Carroll 2nd, Computer Science-Meagan Carroll 1st, Cory Smoot 6th, Editorial Writing-Alyssa Long 2nd, Feature Writing-Jessica Patrick-2nd, Literary Criticism-Jessica Patrick 4th, Mathematics- Meagan Carroll 1st, Alyssa Long 3rd, Morgan Carroll 4th, Aaron Chastain 5th, Number Sense-Meagan Carroll 1st, Morgan Carroll and Aaron Chastain tied 4th, Ready Writing-Jessica Patrick 3rd. The following teams will also compete for a chance to go to state. They are the Calculator Applications Team-1st Place-Meagan Carroll, Aaron Chastain, Morgan Carroll, Jessica Allen, Mathematics Team-1st Place- Meagan Carroll, Alyssa Long, Morgan Carroll, Aaron Chastain, and the Number Sense Team-1st Place-Meagan Carroll, Morgan Carroll, Aaron Chastain.
• Regional Track Meet — Congratulations to Otis Lackey and Logan Foster. They will compete in the Regional Track meet in Nacogdoches. Otis won 1st in the 800 and 2nd in the 1600. Logan won 4th in the 1600 and 3rd in the 3200. Good Luck to both!
• Last Six Weeks — Beginning of the last six weeks of school is Monday.
• School Board — School Board Meeting will meet Thursday.
• FFA Spring Extravaganza Fund-raiser — Slocum FFA Spring Extravaganza Fund-aiser is set for 10 a.m. April 28. There will be a 3D Archery Shoot, a Turkey Shoot and a Skeet Shoot. A Round Robin Co-Ed Softball Tournament also will be held. For more information, contact Dana Neal or Billy Horton at 903-478-3624.
