NECHES — Chad Cooke and Cole Bettes scored in double digits as Neches defeated Oakwood 68-34 Friday night at Tiger Gymnasium.



Cooke scored a team-high 16 points while Bettis put down 14 points for the Tigers (5-2, 14-10).

Neches took a 34-16 lead at halftime and outscored Cayuga 34-18 in the second half. The Tigers held Oakwood to eight points in the fourth quarter.



Cook was coming off a 29-point performance Tuesday in Neches’ 67-64 loss to Kennard.

The Tigers will travel to Wells Tuesday.

Lovelady 46 OT



SLOCUM — Slocum used a big fourth quarter and took control in overtime to defeat Lovelady 52-46 Friday night at Mustang Gymnasium.

Slocum (2-2, 9-16) trailed 16-14 at halftime and Lovelady extended its lead to four points at the end of the third quarter.

The Mustangs outscored Lovelady 13-9 in the fourth quarter and 10-4 in overtime to get the victory.

Otis Lackey scored a game-high 19 points while Jared Lane added 17 points, connecting on four three-point field goals.

Slocum will travel to Latexo Tuesday.
