NECHES — The Neches Lady Tigers used a balanced offense to defeat Oakwood 49-31 Friday night at Tiger Gymnasium.

Jessica Gleason led Neches with 10 points while Brandi Bolton and Jaclyn Largent each added nine points.

Neches carried a 13-point lead into the third quarter and held Oakwood to 17 points in the second half, outscoring the Lady Panthers by five points.

Neches (7-2, 19-10) can seal a playoff spot with a win at Wells Tuesday.



Malakoff 65, Elkhart 50

MALAKOFF — The Elkhart Lady Elks ended their season Friday falling to Malakoff 65-50 at Tiger Gymnasium.

Elkhart (4-8, 18-11) was held to five first quarter points and trailed 35-17 at halftime. The Lady Elks mounted a comeback and outscored Malakoff 20-12 in the third quarter, but it was not enough.

Kari Haferkamp led the Lady Elks with 14 points while Janae Lock scored 12 while connecting on one three-point field goal.



Lovelady 47, Slocum 41

SLOCUM — Lovelady handed Slocum its second district loss Friday as Lovelady defeated the Lady Mustangs 47-41 at Mustang Gymnasium.

Despite Julie Bowman’s 23 points, Slocum trailed by 10 points at the end of the third quarter. The Lady Mustangs (3-2, 25-5) were outscored 25-15 in the second and third quarters combined.

Mandy O’Dell added seven points.
