WELLS — Neches had to fight back after falling behind 33-24 in the first half, but went on to defeat Wells 76-69 Tuesday night at Wells High School.
Justin Todd, who was 14-of-16 from the free-throw line, scored a game-high 33 points while Chad Cooke added in 20 points and Cole Bettis scored 14 points while connecting on two three-point baskets.
The Tigers will close out their season Tuesday when they host Groveton-Centerville at Tiger Gymnasium.
Malakoff 78, Grapeland 45
GRAPELAND — District 21-2A leading Malakoff proved to be too much for the Grapeland Sandies Tuesday as the Tigers defeated Grapeland 78-45 at Sandie Fieldhouse.
Terrance Faulk led Grapeland with 14 points.
Grapeland took an early 15-14 lead in the first quarter, but Malakoff outscored the Sandies 19-9 in the second quarter to take a 33-24 lead at halftime.
Malakoff continued with its scoring offense and put the game away with a 26-9 third quarter.
The Sandies will close out their 2005-2006 campaign Tuesday when they host Elkhart at Sandie Fieldhouse.
