Liza Gabriela Elizondo of Del Rio and Rickey Dwayne Atkins Jr. of Palestine were married March 15 at Living Stone Worship Center of Del Rio.
The Rev. Martin Seca of Del Rio read vows before an altar decorated with white spider mums and carnations.
Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Desiderio S. Elizondo Jr. of Del Rio, and parents of the groom are Rickey Atkins Sr. and Nancy Starr Glover, both of Palestine.
Escorted by Desiderio Elizondo, her father and Enrique Parra, her son, both of Del Rio, the bride wore a sleeveless ivory satin gown with a train adorned with sequins. The bride carried a bouquet of pink and red roses.
Attending the bride was maid of honor Misty Velazquez. Bridesmaids were: Laura Lynn Grander, cousin of the bride, of Pearsall; Julia Dariela Elizondo, sister of the bride, of San Antonio; Demetrius Hall of Pearsall; Desiree Siller, cousin of the bride, of Pearsall; and Angelyca Mendoza of Eagle Pass.
Attendants wore long red and pink satin gowns. They carried long stem red and pink roses.
Flower girl was Nancy C. Gonzalez, niece of the bride, of San Antonio.
Ring bearer was Justin Blake Starr, baby brother of the groom, of Palestine.
Best man was Elie Taylor Sr. of Austin. Groomsmen were: Jacquet Earl Starr, brother of the groom, of Palestine; Aushenmer Y. McBride of Beaumont; Anthony L. Fowlkes of San Antonio; Todd Ali Dunn of Harker Heights; and Lester Joe Ross of Houston.
The bride marched in to the music of "So In Love With You" by U.N.V., and departed the church with her husband to the music of "The Lady, Her Lover and Lord" by T.D. Jakes feat. Shirley Murdock.
A reception was held at the Pecan Ballroom of the Del Rio Civic Center. Houseparty members included Paris Don Melvin, cousin of the groom, Myron L. Woods, Heath Campbell, friends of the groom and numerous relatives and friends. Music and emcee duties were provided by DJ "The Real Reno Luna" of Del Rio.
Following a wedding trip to San Antonio, the couple will reside in Copperas Cove this summer.
The bride is a Customer Service Representative with Best Western. She is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Bilingual Education with Sul Ross State University.
The groom is a Sergeant in the U.S. Army and veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is currently stationed in Del Rio, assigned to Operation Jump Start, supporting the U.S. Border Patrol. He will be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Religion with a specialization in Biblical Counseling from Liberty Baptist University beginning this summer.
