Sullivan - Rupp wedding

Rachel Merideth Sullivan formerly of Palestine and 2nd Lt. Jason Christopher Rupp, USAF of Abilene were married at Logsdon Chapel on the campus of Hardin Simmons University on Aug. 1 in Abilene. Lt. Col. Ron Harvell, Chaplain, USAF performed the ceremony.

Parents of the bride are David and Stephanie Sullivan of Palestine. Parents of the groom are Marilyn Keenan of Wichita Falls and Dennis and Cara Rupp of Springfield, Ore.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a strapless satin gown by Bailey Couture which had been customized with elegant crystal and silver embroidery on the bodice and continued in a floral pattern that wrapped around the skirt and up the chapel train to the waist. She carried a bouquet of red roses, stephanotis, and stargazer lilies, the bride's and groom's favorite flower. She also carried an antique cross “borrowed” from her grandmother.

Katherine Sullivan, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids included friends Cherith Elmore, Erin Hicks, and Heather Jeffers.

John Inwood, friend of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen included Chase Elmore, Clinton Rupp and Matthew Sullivan.

A dinner reception and dance hosted by the bride's parents was held at the ballroom of the Windsor Hotel, one of the original Hilton hotels, in downtown Abilene.

The bride is a graduate of Palestine High School, Texas A&M University and received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Hardin Simmons. She is a physical therapist with the West Texas Rehabilitation Center of Abilene.

The groom is a graduate of Sweet Home High School in Oregon and Hardin Simmons University. He is currently serves as pastor of Swenson Baptist Church in Swenson, and is pursuing his Masters Degree in Theology. He also is a candidate for the Chaplain Program of the United States Air Force.

Following a honeymoon trip to New England, the couple will reside in Abilene.
