Wise-Howell wedding

Valerie Christine Wise of Wylie and Jonathan Lee Howell of Palestine were married Oct. 2 at First Baptist Church of Wylie.

The Revs. Kris Segrest and Al Draper of Wylie read vows before an altar decorated with two wrought iron candelabras surrounded by 4 large arrangements of white and purple gladiolas, purple stalk flowers, white carnations, white lilies and Peacock feathers. The arrangements were displayed on white columns.The couples unity sand and jars were center stage.  The pews were decorated with hanging arrangements of Peacock feathers, green cymbidium orchids, lavender gladiolas and white carnations.

Parents of the bride are Mark and Barbara Wise of Wylie.

Parents of the groom are Johnny and Phyllis Howell of Palestine.

Grandparents of the groom are Wilburn and Marye Howell, Anne Brown, Bill and Joyce Miller.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a white Mori Lee gown. The gown had a sculptured strapless bodice with a crystal beaded lace overlay to the empire with asymmetrical draping over the midriff.

 It had a full A-line skirt with soft draping, a border of lace surrounding the hemline, and a chapel length train.

The bride carried a cascading bouquet of white hydrangeas, white roses, white and burgundy cala lilies, monkey tail and peacock feathers.

Attending the bride as matron of honor Tiffany McLaughlin and maid of honor Nikki Bolive, both of Wylie. Bridesmaids were: Brittney Tidwell of Gardendale, Ala., Stephanie Winegarner of Fort Worth, Katie Monus of Canton; and Hailey Norris, cousin of the bride, of Wylie.

Junior bridesmaid was Anna Joines, cousin of the bride, of Durant, Okla.

Attendants wore Alfred Angelo teal knee length dresses with an A-line skirt. The bodice was strapless with the same asymmetrical draping as the bridal gown.

They carried bouquets of burgundy calla lilies, green hydrangeas tipped with purple, green cymbidium orchids, purple stalk flowers, monkey tail and peacock feathers.

Flower girl was Claire Herring, cousin of the groom, of Elkhart.

Ring Bearer was Logan Wise, nephew of the bride, of San Diego, Calif.

Best Man was Jeffrey Howell, brother of the groom of Palestine.

Groomsmen were: Rodney Hardin, Ben Cox, Zach Smith and Cason Davis, all of Palestine, and Jayson Shannon of Douglas Wyoming.

Ushers were Daniel Barnett of Canton and Ian Gerke of Bryan.

Providing music was pianist and soloist Mary Beth Singleton, cousin of the bride, of Bartlesville, Okla.

A reception hosted by the bride’s parents was held at First Baptist Church of Wylie Special Events Center. Houseparty members included Shelby Lambright and Ariel Bass of Palestine, Sarah Barnett of Canton and Keli Foley of Jewett.

Following a wedding  trip to St. Lucia, where they stayed at the Sandals Regency Resort, the couple will reside in College Station.

The bride is employed by Garland ISD as a fourth-grade teacher at Williams Elementary School.  

The groom is a graduate student at Texas A & M University.
