Westwood softball makes playoffs

CROCKETT — The Westwood Lady Panthers are in the playoffs.

Westwood defeated Crockett 15-3 in five innings Monday night and coupled with Palestine’s loss in Brownsboro, the Lady Panthers captured the third seed in District 20-3A.

As of press time Tuesday night, it was unknown who and when Westwood will play for the Class 3A-Region III bi-district round.

In the must-win game, Westwood’s bats came alive as the Lady Panthers had 20 hits against Crockett. Jazmine Hicks and Alex El-Cassabgui both were 4-for-4.

Sumer Davis — who earned the win — had two hits including an inside the park home run. Jayme Lively also added three hits.
