JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

• Scarborough Faire — In appreciation of our U.I.L. participants, the sponsors are offering a Saturday trip to Scarborough Faire in Waxahachie. The trip is planned for April 21. The bus will leave the Junior High School campus at 8 a.m. and return at 4 p.m. Group rate discount tickets will be offered. Ms. Huffman will pass out detailed letters to those participants on Monday.

• Important Dates — Tuesday, Band Booster meeting at 6 p.m. at the high school; Wednesday, CSI meeting for students at 7:30 a.m. in room 205; Friday, school holiday, Good Friday.

• Life Skills Class Visits Planetarium — Phyllis Clark’s class went to Corsicana on March 23. The class had been studying about the Solar System and the planets. As a culminating activity the class went to the Cook Planetarium and viewed the planets they had been studying along with the facts about Pluto. They learned why Pluto is not considered a planet any more. For lunch, the class got to eat lunch at Cici’s Pizza Buffet. On the way back they also stopped by Russell Stover’s Candy Factory.

Students in Mrs. Kennedy’s art classes worked together to create a collaborative sculpture based on a Gary Larson "Far Side" cartoon. Each student who participated created a penguin, but each had to be unique. The project was part of a sculpture unit using paper mache.
