Graveside services for Albert E. “Humpy” Wilson Jr., 86, of Waco, were held at 10 a.m. Monday in Garden of Memories with Bro. David Franklin officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Palestine.

Albert Edward “Humpy” Wilson Jr., passed away April 22, 2010 at home after a lengthy illness. He was born on Oct. 24, 1923 to Albert and Annie Wilson in the community of Sardis. He was united in marriage to Oweta Joyce Crawford on Nov. 30, 1953. They have four children. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II. Albert retired May 31, 1987 from the Texas Highway Department in Waco. He worked with the Center Stripe Crew. This is where he got the nickname “Humpy.” He LOVED Bluegrass Music. People knew him by “Humpy” or the man handing out flyers about upcoming Bluegrass Festivals. Albert loved his family!

Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Sarah Alice Wilson, and one brother, Herman Cobble Wilson.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Wilson; two daughters, Joyce Ann Bambeck and husband Billy of Palestine and Bonnie Sue Berryhill and husband Kirby of Waco; two sons, Cecil Wilson and wife Wanda of Palestine and Billy Jack Wilson and wife Cindy of Waco; two sisters, Marie Hall of Elkhart and Annette Hamby of Palestine; four brothers, John W. Wilson of Elkhart, Bennie J. Wilson of Kerrville, Bob Wilson of Elkhart and Delmer Wilson of Palestine; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
