WASHINGTON (AP) — Authorities say an 11-year-old boy has died after being struck by a car in Georgetown.
Officials say Zachary Hodges suffered a severe head injury and died Monday in a hospital. Authorities say he had been struck in the 1600 block of Wisconsin Avenue in northwest Washington, near 33rd Street, about 6 p.m. Sunday.
Ed Solomon, public safety chairman of the Georgetown Business Improvement District, says it appears the boy was with his parents and a brother at the time.
Police say Hodges was a pedestrian. They say the 21-year-old woman driving the car and her passenger were not injured and remained at the scene. Officials continue to investigate the crash.
Police have said the boy was visiting from Texas.
