Featured Event: Juneteenth Parade and Celebration

The annual Juneteenth celebration begins today at 9:30 a.m. at the Anderson County Courthouse, where speakers will commemorate the day and the historic Freedmen's March that occurred at the courthouse in 1868 after the 1866 Constitution, which did not recognize the rights of emancipated slaves, was rejected.

The festivities will continue with a parade at 10 a.m. from the courthouse square to Calhoun Park, where the celebration will continue with a brief program, free food, and fun.
