Featured Event: Swing Dance Lessons

East Coast style swing music, which became popular during the big bands era of the 1930s and 1940s, offers a gentle rhythm suitable for senior adults, and it's easy to learn. The class, held at 6:45-8 p.m. each Tuesday, is included in a YMCA membership or costs just $5 for non-members.

Ryan Pence, wellness director at the Y, said the class offers several physical benefits: active movement, improved muscle memory, and strength in the hips, legs, and body core. Attending the class offers social benefits, too: meeting new people, having an event to look forward to, and accountability to others. Call the YMCA for more information at 903-729-3139.
