June kicks off with an early-summer highlight: the Schulman Theater Dogwood 6 annual Summer Family Film Festival.

Every Tuesday, from June 4 through August 13, families can enjoy a movie for 50 cents per person.

This is a great way for families who may not be able to afford a normal movie admission to enjoy a movie on the big screen, especially with small children or those with disabilities.

Dogwood 6 has sponsored this festival for at least five years.

Doors open at 9 a.m.; the show starts at 10 a.m. Seating is limited and no reservations.

The theater also has a special snack combo of popcorn and a kids drink, with free refills for $3.50.

And for a good cause, too.

This year’s proceeds will benefit Blankets & Bears Children’s Fund.

This year's Family Film Festival Schedule features:

June 4 – The Grinch

June 11 – Captain Underpants

June 18 – Trolls

June 25 – Despicable Me

July 2 – Puss in Boots

July 9 – How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World

July 15 – Minions

July 23 – The Secret Life of Pets

July 30 – Sing

Aug. 6 – The Lorax

Aug. 13 – The Cat in the Hat

“All movies have been confirmed, so our show list is final,” Rolin said.

Schulman Theater Dogwood 6, 545 East Palestine Ave., opens doors at 9 a.m. Shows start at 10 a.m. Seating is limited. Reservations are not available.
