A one-vehicle accident on Wednesday has left a man dead and another in serious condition.
Karl Pierre, 20, Tyler, was killed in the accident on Texas 155. A passenger, Jaylon Brown, 20, was in serious condition at a local hospital. Brown is the half brother of NFL running back and Palestine native Adrian Peterson.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Pierre was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe south on the highway when the SUV started towards the left side of the road. Pierre then overcorrected and the vehicle then rolled over in the median.
Both Pierre and Brown were taken to Palestine Regional Medical Center. According to the DPS report, Pierre was pronounced dead at 8:12 a.m. by Justice of the Peace Carl Davis. His body was then transported to the Emanuel Funeral Home in Palestine.
Brown was first pronounced in serious condition. A message has been left with PRMC for an update on Brown's condition.
Peterson and Brown have the same mother, Bonita Jackson. Peterson, a running back for the Minnesota Vikings, was spotted in Palestine Wednesday.
A 2013 graduate of Klein Oak High School, Brown signed a letter of intent to Kilgore College, according to the Houston Chronicle. A KTRE-TV report from August 2014 said Brown signed with the East Texas Timber Rattlers, a Lufkin-based arena football team. According to the team's website, he is not on the current roster.
