Palestine's new cajun seafood restaurant, Daiquiri King, is hosting two family events this week, Poetry & Paint Night and an outdoor movie.
“Don’t let the name fool you, we are a restaurant, not a club,” said Perry Cole, restaurant manager. “This is a family friendly place. Everyone is welcome.”
According to Cole, Poetry & Paint Night will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday. Admission for this event is free. Seating is limited. Due to state COVID-19 rules, all restaurants are only operating at 50% capacity at this time. For information or to book this event call 903-480-0396.
For this week’s outdoor movie Daiquiri King will be showing Disney's Maleficent at 7:30 p.m. For sound, tune in your car radio to a set station.
Admission is $10 for children, $12 for adults or $35 per vehicle. Parking is limited. Book your parking spot in advance at the link on Daiquiri King's Facebook page.
Order food from the restaurant by text, inside the restaurant and/or shop with other vendors in the parking lot.
Vendor spaces are still available for Sunday’s movie night.
Daiquiri King is open from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday serving stuffed turkey legs, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday, serving wings, cajun seafood, including fried fish, crab legs, shrimp and daily specials like gumbo.
“Our food is all homemade, made onsite by cooks from Louisiana,” Cole said.
According to Cole, while they are working on obtaining a liquor license, they currently serve virgin daiquiris with toppings. When they get a license, daiquiris will be wine-based, which is a requirement to be sold to-go.
They also offer delivery, catering and building rentals for parties and events. In the future, Cole said the restaurant will offer Karaoke and Paint with a Twist.
Daiquiri King is located at 1101 W. Palestine Ave. in Palestine.
