Fourteen-year-old Elkhart resident Stacey Robertson has a heart as big as Christmas — so much so that she, with the help of her family, is bringing a community-wide Christmas event to Reagan Park on Dec. 10.

The live nativity and musical presentation begins at 5:30 p.m. with a dance performed by the Little House of Ballet. A scripture reading, music and presentation of the nativity also will be held during the event.

“Community volunteers from other churches will be part of the nativity,” Robertson said. “We also have someone that has volunteered to lead the children’s angel choir.”

To conclude the event, hot cocoa and cookies will be served and parents will have an opportunity to take photos of their children in nativity costumes.

“This is just a fun family time,” Robertson’s mother, Angie Robertson, said. “We encourage families to bring their blankets and lawn chairs and just enjoy being there.”

Stacey Robertson said the event is part of a personal progress project for individual worth she is doing through her church.

“It has to be something that promotes unity in my church, school or community,” she explained, “and I have to work at least 10 hours on the project.

“The live nativity was actually my mom’s idea,” she added. “But I liked the idea and started getting it organized.”

Robertson and her mother said volunteers are still needed for the nativity and choir. Anyone who would like to help may call 903-764-1304.
