Westwood ISD approves calendar
During a special meeting Monday, Westwood Independent School District trustees approved changes to the 2007-08 school calendar and hired six new employees to serve in the district.
According to interim superintendent Dr. Jim Boyle, the changes to the calendar were required due to changes in the TAKS testing schedule.
The new schedule returns to the standard spring break, set for the week of March 17, 2008 and removes the originally approved winter and spring breaks. The calendar also moved the end of school to the last week of May, instead of the first week of June.
New employees hired by the board include: elementary assistant principal Rebecca Huff; special education aide Amy Camp; sixth grade math teacher Stacy Johnson; Head Start teacher LaWanda Daugherty; high school secretary Cathy Thorn; and administration receptionist Jennipher Crowley.
