Polls will remain open until 7 p.m. today in the party primary runoff elections as Anderson County Democrats choose their nominees for county judge and precinct 2 commissioner.

Local Democrats are making their choices for county judge and precinct 2 commissioner as two-term incumbent Carey G. McKinney meets long-time Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Linda Bostick Ray in the former race and political newcomer Rashad Q. Mims I faces former two-term commissioner Rodney A. Howard Sr. in the latter.

The McKinney-Ray winner will face Republican Susan Perryman Evans in the Nov. 7 general election, while current Precinct 2 Commissioner Darrell Emanuel has also expressed his intent to be on the ballot as an independent candidate.

Meanwhile, the winner of today's Mims-Howard matchup will meet Republican nominee Larry Coker in the fall.

Democrats should vote at their usual polling place today, while all Republican voting is scheduled for Palestine High School.
