The Elkhart cross-country teams struck gold while running at the district meet Wednesday at Elkhart.
The Elkhart varsity girls, varsity boys, junior high girls and junior high boys all finished in first place.
The Elkhart junior varsity girls and junior varsity boys team finished in second place.
In the varsity girls race, they had four runners finish in the top five. They also had six runners finish in the top ten.
Shyenne Heuer anchored the girls varsity team as she finished in second place with a running time of 13:53.19. Holly Crouch was right behind her with a time of 14:05.67. Melanie Barnett had a fourth place finish with a clocked time of 14:23.18. Monique Ashford had a fifth place finish with a time of 14:25.54.
Paige Huff came in at ninth place with a time of 14:49.52. Joli Ballew finished tenth with a time of 14:58.68.
Sarah Hillman of Leon finished in first place with a time of 13:32.58. Leon finished in second place and New Waverly came in third place.
The Elkhart varsity boys had six runners finish in the top 11, including two runners finishing in the top four.
William Harris anchored the varsity boys run with a second place finish with a time of 19:50.74. Tanner Tutt came in fourth place with a clocked time of 20:06.54. Coming in seventh place was Dillon Shaver with a time of 21:17.88. Dalton Kassaw was right behind him with a finished time of 21:33.23. Trent Huff had a ninth place finish with a time of 21:24.85.
Finishing in eleventh place for the varsity boys was Zachary Fogle with a time of 21:53.04. Andi Chicas came in at 15th place with a time of 22:53.00.
Daniel Merry of Leon finished in first place with a time of 19:35.50. New Waverly came in second place as a team.
In the Junior High girls race, Madison Crader, Makayla Walker and Kathryn Esparza finished one, two and three respectively. Crader led the way with a timed run of 9:37.23. Walker finished with a time of 9:50.99. Esparza clocked in at 10:12.98.
Elkhart had seven runners finish in the top eight of the of the junior high girls race. Gracie Johnson finished in fifth place with a clocked time of 10:30.29 Rylee Reeves was right behind her with a time of 10:37.31. Megan Bailey and Chloe Ives came in seventh and eighth place respectively. Bailey had a time of 10:50.22. Ives had a time of 10:52.10.
Analisa Trevino and Briley Teems each finished in 14th and 15 place. Trevino had a time of 12:13.82 and Teems had a time of 12:15.37.
Lupo Laro came in 22nd place with a time of 12:37.27. Cassie Barnett finished in 27th place with a time of 13:02.42. Lizabeth Marquez finished in 37th place with a time of 15:00.23.
The Junior High boys had two players finish in the top three, including four in the top eight.
Gavin Pollard led the way for the boys team with a time of 9:19.03 putting him in third place. Right behind him was Brady Johnson with a time of 9:25.78. Coming in eighth place was Caleb Dean with a time of 9:53.03. Right behind him was Mayraj Khen with a time of 9:56.03.
Antonio Chicas came in at 24th place with a time 11:27.90. William Andrews had a time of 12:25 to put him in 27th place. Burke Burmley came in at 13:26.59 to put him in 31st place.
Valerie Sanchez finished in first place for the junior varsity girls race with a time of 16:54.70. Kerstin Humphries came in fifth place with a time of 18:24.52. Maddie Bowman was 13th with a time of 21:55.90.
The junior varsity boys had two runners finish in the top three. Tucker Johnson was second place with a time of 23:59.88. Right behind him was Joseph Higginbothin with a time of 24:08.19.
Colton Willis finished in ninth place with a time of 25:33.12. Noah Pierce came in 11th place with a time of 29:07.90. Seth Gartner finished 15th with a time of 33:25.13.
The Elkhart cross-country team will now turn their focus and preparation to the regional meet on Nov.1 in Humble.
