ELKHART — The Elkhart Holiday Invitational continues with more games today and Saturday at Elkhart High School gymnasium.
Slocum defeated Cayuga 49-27 on Thursday, and the Lady Mustangs will face host Elkhart at 12:30 p.m. today.
On the boys' side, consolation bracket games are set for 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. today, while championship bracket games will be at 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
The boys' bracket features the following schools: Host Elkhart, Slocum, Cayuga, Eustace, Cross Roads, Wells, Kennard and Normangee.
ATHENS — The Westwood High School boys' basketball team defeated Rusk 55-44 on Thursday, advancing to play Athens in the second round.
The Panthers then lost to Athens 70-59. They play either LaPoynor or Fairfield at 5 p.m. today.
LaPoynor defeated Onalaska, 84-37, on Thursday to advance to today's second round championship bracket game versus Fairfield. Tip-off is set for 12 p.m.
Palestine played Tyler Chapel Hill on Thursday evening — beating them 83-39. The Wildcats will face Mabank in the second round today at 5 p.m., in the championship bracket.
On the girls' side, Athens will play Westwood at 11 a.m. today in the competition gymnasium while Palestine takes on Bullard at 11 a.m. in Hornet Gym. — wrapping up pool play.
GRAND SALINE — The Frankston boys' basketball team continues pool play today with a noon game versus Big Sandy and then the Indians play Woden at 6 p.m. in the Eddie Rogers Invitational.
Other tournament teams are host Grand Saline, Abilene Cooper, Winnsboro, Gilmer Harmony, Big Sandy and White Oak.
EUSTACE — The Frankston girls' basketball team will continue play at the E.L. Kirk Tournament in Eustace today.
After Thursday's 46-32 loss to Sunnyvale, the Maidens will play Tyler Chapel Hill at 8 a.m.
FRUITVALE — The Neches' girls basketball team plays two games today to wrap up pool play at the Fruitvale Tournament.
The Lady Tigers take on Trinidad at 9:30 a.m., and then Cumby at 3:30 p.m.
In non-tournament action, the LaPoynor girls will travel to play Normangee while the Neches boys play host to Alto.
The Palestine junior varsity and ninth-grade girls will be competing for the second straight day at a tournament in Crandall.
The PHS JV and ninth-grade boys are in Henderson.
