Westwood suffered a four-set loss at home to 20-3A rival Groesbeck by scores of 24-26, 27-25, 25-21, 25-15.
Libero Monica Wilson had 37 of the Lady Panthers' 66 digs; but, it proved to be all for naught as the Lady Goats found ways to win the final three sets.
Jordan Carter had 15 kills and Shamaya Downie 12; however, the Lady Panthers committed 29 attack errors and recorded a paltry .053 hitting percentage. Carter also had five solo ace blocks, and Downie recorded four ace serves for Westwood (23-12).
Elkhart d. Crockett
CROCKETT — Madison Crader had 10 kills and a .290 attack percentage as the Elkhart High School volleyball team swept Crockett in District 20-3A by scores of 25-18, 25-12, 25-22.
Brandi Cain added four kills and Rylee Reeves three for the Lady Elks (15-18).
Fairfield d. Palestine
FAIRFIELD — Fairfield simply had too much firepower for Palestine in District 19-4A on Tuesday as the Lady Eagles swept the LadyCats by scores of 25-17, 25-19, 25-9.
Shayla Arthur put down eight kills and hit .200 for Palestine (13-19). Destiny Mathews added six kills. Gabby Moore and Ka'Zem Wood had 13 of the LadyCats' 24 digs. Wood also dished off 11 assists.
Grapeland d. Oakwood
OAKWOOD — Neci Keefer and Essence Watkins combined for 18 kills and 13 solo ace blocks; but, it wasn't enough as Grapeland defeated the Lady Panthers 25-18, 26-24, 25-17.
Rachell Rodgers added five kills and nine digs. Kaeley Bean and Janet Velasquez teamed up for 23 assists. Neci Keefer also scooped up a team-best 12 digs and Avery Hardin had 11.
Oakwood dropped to 5-25 while Grapeland stands at 16-15.
Frankston (4-23) was the lone team from the Pine Empire off on Tuesday, as part of the 20-3A schedule rotation.
Palestine will play host to Madisonville in a very important 19-4A match on Friday, with the LadyCats needing to win.
Crockett visits Frankston while Elkhart plays at Buffalo in 20-3A on Friday. Westwood is idle.
Grapeland plays host to Cross Roads while Cayuga entertains Trinidad, with both 21-2A matches Friday. The lone Saturday match has Oakwood visiting Neches.
