FROST — The Cayuga Ladycats held Frost to 11 points in the second half in a 45-30 win Friday night in the second round of the Frost Tournament.

Cayuga (7-7) led 30-19 at halftime and then the Ladycat defense did the rest, holding Dawson to three points in the third quarter and eight points in the fourth quarter.

Amber Sheppard led Cayuga with 11 points and eight rebounds. She also had two steals and five assists. Megan Heard had 10 points to go along with six rebounds.

Cayuga will play at 5:30 p.m. today against the winner of Friday’s Itasca-Frost game.



Elkhart 62,

North Zulch 36



ELKHART — Kari Haferkamp scored 21 points to lead Elkhart to a 62-36 win over North Zulch in the second round of the Elkhart Tournament Friday night.

Elkhart (12-2) will finish the tournament at 4 p.m. today against Oakwood.

Haferkamp made a pair of three pointers on her way to her 20-plus point performance.

Elkhart trailed at halftime by three points but the Lady Elks held North Zulch to four points in the third quarter and 11 points into the second half.



Neches 69, Leverett Chapel 8



NEW SUMMERVILLE — The Neches Lady Tigers held Leverett Chapel scoreless for two quarters in a 69-8 rout Friday in the second round of the New Summerville Tournament.

Neches took a 20-4 lead after the first quarter and then Leverett Chapel did not score for the next two quarters.

Shayla Hudson led Neches with 10 points and Jessica Gleason and Kristen Cook had nine points each.
